Mary Chism-Ferguson

Mary Chism-Ferguson was destined for the apartment industry. With both parents working with property management companies such as Dranguet Helmer and Summit Property Management, it was a natural fit for Mary to start her career in an apartment community. The first position to pique her interest was as a Groundskeeper. Starting at 17 years old this was ideal, so she was able to work on her tan as she cleaned pools and picked up the grounds. Mary’s bronze interests quickly shifted as a leasing opportunity presented itself as available to her. It did not take long for her to then climb the management ladder to a property manager position, which she held for 10 years.

Starting in 1994, Mary decided to try her skills in apartment staffing. Working for a national staffing service that specialized in the apartment industry gave her a huge advantage as she had been in the shoes of so many community jobs herself.

After 8 years of working for different staffing companies Mary decided to take a leap of faith and open her own company so that she could provide a more personal experience for her clients and employees. Opening her own company meant that she was free to visit clients whenever she wanted as well as provide deals and specials to build strong connections within the industry.

Texas Apartment Services has been successful in the matching qualified candidates with hiring companies since 2003. Watching employees start as leasing or groundskeepers then moving to managers or lead maintenance, then becoming clients has been a highlight of Mary’s career. Now with her husband Darrell Ferguson at her side as HR and Accounts Payable and their daughter Lauren Nutting as the Office Manager, Texas Apartment Services is here to continue to make long lasting employment connections by staffing the apartment industry.
